Membership

Membership is voluntary. AALCAM has two kinds of members and one honorary invitation.

Kinds of membership
KindHow to become oneWhat it includes
Associate MemberFree. Join with your name and email.Read library items whose terms allow it, donate material, and vote for the Ethics Board after 90 days.
AALCAM Certified ProfessionalVerified identity, education and experience, and a test. See Certification.Everything an Associate has, eligibility to be elected to the Ethics Board, and a listing in the directory if you approve.
Honorary FellowBy invitation only.Takes part on their own terms. Bound by the core of the Code of Ethics.

Voting

All members vote, and only on who sits on the Ethics Board. They never vote on the mission. To keep elections fair, each person has one account with a confirmed email address, and a member must have belonged for 90 days before voting. More on elections.

What is expected of members

  • Serve the growth of the people you work with, and follow the Code of Ethics.
  • Give accurate information and keep it current.
  • Do not misuse AALCAM's name or imply credentials it does not issue.

A member who uses AALCAM for partisan politics or to promote or attack a religion is permanently excluded, after being heard. Read the rule.

Honorary Fellows

Honorary Fellows are invited by AALCAM in recognition of their contribution to the fields AALCAM serves. A Fellowship is an invitation, not a certification: AALCAM has not tested or verified a Fellow's credentials. Fellows take part on their own terms. Like every member, Fellows are bound by the core of the Code of Ethics. A Fellow who violates it is removed from the Fellowship after being told what is alleged and given a chance to respond. The decision is final.

What membership is not

Membership is not a license to practice and does not by itself constitute certification or accreditation. Only AALCAM Certified Professionals have been verified and tested.

Join as an Associate Member

Associate membership is free. Tell us briefly where you are based and what you do.

A sentence or two is enough.
