Who we are

AALCAM is operated by OBERMAIER LTD, an Ohio limited liability company, which owns the AALCAM name, materials and platform. Members can join from anywhere. Members are participants, not owners of the company.

What AALCAM does

• Publishes a public library of professional materials, each clearly labeled.
• Welcomes Associate Members, who join for free.
• Certifies professionals who meet its published standards.
• Maintains a Code of Ethics and an Ethics Board to apply it.

Our mission

AALCAM exists to bring professionals together around shared standards of ethical and responsible practice, so that the people they serve can grow. The mission and the founding principle are fixed. No decision of the Ethics Board and no vote of the members can change them.

The Ethics Board

The Ethics Board is a group of volunteers who decide questions of ethics and handle concerns, independently and in good faith. Today it is made up of founding volunteers, who are bound by the same Code as every member.

Elections

All members can vote, and only Certified Professionals can be elected. Members vote only on who sits on the Ethics Board, never on the mission. The first election takes place when AALCAM reaches 25 members. The Founding Board is named once the first elected Board takes office.

To keep elections fair, each person has one account with a confirmed email address, and a member must have belonged for 90 days before voting. AALCAM may remove accounts it finds to be fake.

Leadership

AALCAM is led by its founder. Ethical decisions belong to the Ethics Board, not to the founder.

Disclosure

OBERMAIER LTD also provides consulting services. AALCAM does not use the information of members or applicants to market those services.

Institutional neutrality

AALCAM is voluntary and nonpartisan. It is independent of political and religious advocacy.
